Kick-off lecture on Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Practical Driving Course (PDC) of LTO
LOAKAN- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) – CAR started the 1st batch lecture on the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Practical Driving Course of LTO to the trainers and assessors of TESDA CAR on June 5-6, 2021, held at the Regional Training Center (RTC)-Baguio Multipurpose Hall.
The conduct of the lecture is embedded in the Memorandum of Agreement between TESDA and LTO where both agencies forged a mutual covenant to complement existing training in driving motor vehicle to address uniformity and standard and at the same time comply to the government directive on ease of doing business for the benefit and service of clienteles wanting to gain competencies in driving motor vehicle and secure or renew driver’s license.
The 1st batch is composed of 18 trainers and assessors of Driving and Automotive from TESDA Abra, TESDA Baguio-Benguet, and TESDA Mt. Province.
The event was graced by TESDA CAR Regional Director Dante J. Navarro, LTO Regional Director Francis Ray Almora, LTO CAR ARD Jennilyn Avelino and LTO CAR lecturers Emily D. Kitong, Cecilio D. Gallardo, and Joseph Cabanas.
“Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, we hope that magkaroon tayo ng pagbabago sa attitude and knowledge ng ating mga drivers not just for LTO and TESDA but for everyone at sana ay isapuso natin ito upang mabawasan at maiwasan ang aksidente sa kalsada,” said TESDA-CAR Regional Director Dante J. Navarro in his welcome message.
Likewise in his message, Director Almora said, “This is one of the organizational changes in LTO wherein we have to ensure that these people who are granted the privilege of driving are really qualified to drive as per requirements of RA 10930.”
“Kaya po nagkaroon tayo ng programa na Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Practical Driving Course (PDC) na ang unang focus ay sa private driving schools pero noong nakikita yung pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan, nakita na hindi pwedeng iasa lahat natin ito sa ating private driving schools that’s why we expanded the program since most private driving schools are expensive and most Filipino citizens cannot afford it,” he added.
Our main goal is to make the road safer for each and everyone not just for us drivers but for every road user,” he reiterated.
The topics of the Lecture covers Introduction to Driving, Pre-driving orientation for Motorcycle and Motor Vehicle, Gender and Development, Defensive Driving and MV Maintenance, Handling of Emergencies and Breakdowns, and Road and Traffic Rules and Driver’s Duties and Responsibilities, Land Transportation-Related Special Laws, which will be added to the Common Competencies of Driving NC II of TESDA.
The 2nd batch will start on June 12-13, 2021, and the final batch will be on June 19-20, 2021.
Dir. Navarro thanked the LTO lecturers for sharing their knowledge and advised the TESDA trainers to share what they learned with their learners holistically. ###
