Jeepney drivers told to provide more express trips

City officials recently urged jeepney operators and drivers in the city to provide more express trips on their respective routes to cater to students and workers during rush hours in the morning from 6 am to 8 am.
Under Resolution No. 545, series of 2023, local legislators stated that in order to help and give a temporary remedy while waiting for a long-term solution, it is imperative for jeepney operators and drivers in the city to provide additional express trips on their respective routes to shorten the travel time to arrive at their designated terminals in the various parts of the central business district.
During the Senior Citizens Office for a Day (SCOFAD) held on October 17, 2022, the SCOFAD council adopted the proposal of SCOFAD Councilor Viola M. Aplosen that urged jeepney operators to provide more jeepneys to cater to students and employees from their respective barangays going to the city’s center during rush hours in the morning from 6 am to 8 am.
The council disclosed that it has been time and again observed that many passenger queue in their respective jeepney terminals in the different barangays of the city in the morning and in the afternoon during rush hours for them to be able to catch up with their scheduled classes and work and for them to be able to go home from their busy schedules.
Further, the body claimed that many commuters from the different parts of the city are most often late in going to their respective workplaces, schools, and appointments due to the reported inadequate jeepneys that provide their transportation requirements, especially in the mornings which must be addressed by the concerned jeepney operators and drivers and the transport sector.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the different jeepney and transport cooperatives and the Traffic and Transportation Management Division of the City Engineering office for their information, guidance, ready reference and appropriate action. – Dexter A. See
