BAGUIO CITY – The City is taking a stand against a growing form of vandalism: sticker graffiti. Stickers are increasingly being used to deface traffic signs, public facilities, and private property.
According to Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) Chief Daryll Kim Longid, ““We’re seeing more and more stickers being used to vandalize our city, it’s not just an eyesore but also a safety hazard. Stickers can obscure important information on traffic signs, and they can be difficult and costly to remove.”
“We’re going to be taking a zero-tolerance approach to sticker vandalism, “Anyone caught will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
In addition to enforcement, the city is working to remove existing sticker vandalism.
To combat the problem, the city is launching a heightened campaign to enforce its existing anti-graffiti ordinances. These ordinances prohibit any person from applying graffiti, including stickers, to any public or private property without permission.
- Penalties under the anti-graffiti code consist of fines ranging from P1,000 to P5,000
2. Imprisonment from one to ten days for the first offense; 11 to 20 days on the second offense; and 21 to 30 days.
3. Violators will be made to make restitution for the crime and may be made to render community service for a period of One Hundred Twenty (120) hours to be completed within (3) months or a fine of P5,000 or both at the discretion of the court.
“The POSD is committed to keeping our street and traffic signages free from any form of vandalism. We are therefore urging everyone to help us by reporting such deplorable acts that you may see.
