Illegally cut Narra flitches seized, 2 individuals arrested
Two individuals were arrested after they were intercepted with a truck loaded with Php 600,000 worth of illegally sawn Narra Flitches in Brgy. Camalog, Pinukpuk, Kalinga on February 16, 2023.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the suspects were identified as Johnny Alingcao Lumiwes Jr., 28 years old; and Joseph Armando Carig Gammad, 33 years old.
According to the same report, police officers of Pinukpuk MPS received a call from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Pinukpuk informing them that their Bantay Gubat workers stationed at Kapanikian checkpoint and personnel of the Philippine Army (PA) flagged down a truck loaded with Narra flitches.
Immediately, personnel of Pinukpuk MPS responded to the call and upon arrival, they inspected the truck and asked for pertinent documents of the said flitches, however, they failed to show the said documents, thus prompting the responding police officers to arrest the said individuals.
Confiscated from the suspects were Narra flitches with an estimated volume of more or less Seven Hundred (700) board feet and an estimated market value of Php 600,000.00.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Pinukpuk MPS and will be facing charges for violation ofย PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, while the vehicle used and Narra flitches were brought to CENRO Pinukpuk Office for proper disposition. (PROCOR-PIO / File photos)
