Human Rights fundamental in citizens’ well-being – Mayor
A total of 157 participants from the Summer Capital’s 20 barangay districts joined the first city-wide Baguio Human Rights Action Officers (BHRAO) Summit, March 22 and 23, at the President Fidel V. Ramos gym.
In his message read by City Mayor’s Office executive assistant IV and City Human Rights Task Force member Benjamin Macadangdang, Mayor Benjamin Magalong welcomed the attendees and urged the barangay officers to take their roles seriously and continuously educate themselves about human rights.
“I firmly believe that the promotion and protection of human rights are fundamental to ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens,” the Mayor stressed.
The two-day activity’s other speakers and their topics were: Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Training Specialist IV Marlyn Palangdao on “Basic Human Rights” and the “Role of BHRAO in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights”; Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) city office chief Millicent Cariño on “Human Rights in Good Local Governance”; and National BHRAC Secretariat Vicenta Basilio on “Strengthening Human Rights at the LGUs through HRAC.” – Camille Galvan
