Hedcor boosts livelihood recovery of North Luzon Cooperatives

As the country is now on its way to economic recovery, Hedcor ensures that its North Luzon community-based cooperatives are supported with livelihood initiatives.
In partnership with Aboitiz Foundation, Hedcor first donated farming tools and equipment. Provision of ‘Digiskarte Packages’ followed through.
“Spurring the economic growth of our host communities has always been at the essence of Hedcor’s operations,” says Rolando Pacquiao, Hedcor Group President and COO. “We have a greater goal of recovering hand-in-hand with the communities we serve. That is why Hedcor has always been equally supportive in providing much-needed livelihood resources for them to recuperate sustainably.”
Building a greener future together
Said livelihood program is set to benefit six cooperatives in Benguet and Ilocos Sur with a combined total of around 1,000 members.
To reboost the production of flowers in Benguet, Lamut Multipurpose Cooperative (LMC) received P50,000 worth of farming tools and equipment. “With the aid extended to us, we are hoping to have our flowers bloom all year-round,” Crisanto Bato, President of LMC expressed.
Moreso, with the launching of the P200,000 worth of ‘Digiskarte Package’, Hedcor has provided a platform for six cooperatives to efficiently not only jumpstart their mobile load business but also be guided on the utilization of the digital space for the future expansion of their businesses as well.
With the Digiskarte Package which is one of the Digitization Projects of Aboitiz Foundation. It comes complete with Smart SIM cards, LTE handsets, retailer kits with load wallets, and customized store signage. An Information Communication Technology (ICT) training has also been provided supplementing sustainable business practices through technology for added value.
Recipients in Benguet are Thanksgiving Multipurpose Cooperative; Wangal Gusaran Community Water Services Cooperative; Barangay Alapang Multipurpose Cooperative; and Lamut Multipurpose Cooperative. In Ilocos Sur, the beneficiaries are Lasong Farmers Association and Apang Food Processors Association.
