Hedcor bayanihan gives aid to typhoon-stricken communities

Even with the threat of the pandemic, Hedcor and AboitizPower extend immediate relief through food packs distribution and road clearing to Northern Luzon communities affected by Typhoon Maring. Hedcor File Photos

Hedcor is quick to respond to the call for help from the different Municipalities with relief packs and ready-to-eat food handed to some 1,800 families, which come with essentials such as rice, canned goods, and noodles to name a few.

Relatedly, Hedcor team members took part in the road clearing to ensure vehicle mobility in delivering aid to affected communities.  This is further strengthened with Hedcor’s donation of over 200 liters of gasoline used in heavy equipment to clear off debris.

Said assistance was distributed to the Municipalities of Sablan, Itogon, La Trinidad and Bakun in Benguet; Municipality of Sabangan in Mt. Province; and Municipality of Alilem in Ilocos Sur.

“In this trying time of uncertainty, we acknowledge that Hedcor and its communities are stronger together,” says Rolando Pacquiao, Hedcor’s President and COO.  “Together, we will get through this; and that our collaborative efforts will surely help our affected communities recover.”

In Barangay Poblacion in Bakun, Benguet, the aftermath of the typhoon has caused its health center and a portion of its barangay hall with some other houses to be dilapidated.  “It is unfortunate, but we are working as one to rebuild and bring back the normalcy of our barangay,” says Barangay Chairman Mateo Osias.

In response to the assistance, Bakun Mayor Bill Raymundo acknowledged the partnership the Municipality has with Hedcor in addressing the immediate needs of the locals. “Agyaman kami iti tulong nga inted yo, Hedcor!” (Thank you for the help you have extended to us, Hedcor)

Moreso, Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao Jr. made mention that Hedcor’s relief assistance is a big contribution in augmenting what is being provided by the Municipality.

In more than 30 years of business, Hedcor weathered with its host communities storms from earthquakes, landslides to this pandemic. It only shows that Hedcor’s commitment to its host community will not waver as it speaks highly of the  Filipinos’ spirit of camaraderie and resiliency. ###
