Guinness World Record remains the largest Strawberry shortcake in La Trinidad, Benguet

La Trinidad, Benguet – This valley town showcased the twin giant strawberry cake on Saturday with thousands of people partaking in the bounty as the highlight of the month-long strawberry festival.

Reliving its 2004 Guinness Book of World Records for baking the world’s biggest Strawberry Cake, the Municipality will serve around 16,000 slices of Strawberry Cake to locals and visitors alike for a minimal fee.

The Guinness World Record Certificate stated,  The largest strawberry shortcake weighed 21,210.40 lbs (9,622.29 kg) and was made by various bakers in conjunction with the Municipality of La Trinidad (Philippines) at the La Trinidad Strawberry Festival, Benguet, Philippines on 20 March 2004.

Mayor Salda and Vice-Mayor  Awingan led the ceremonial slicing of the Twin Giant Strawberry Cake, the Red strawberry represents to Sweet Charlie chuga variety and the white strawberry represents to snow white milky way variety strawberry held at Lednicky Hall, Municipal of La Trinidad, Benguet on March 18, 2023.

In an interview with Mayor Salda, “We would like to thank all the La Trinidad Bakers Association the APPLE BLOSSOM BAKERY, BADU CAKES, AD’LAINE BAKESHOP, and MENCHIES’S BAKERY”

“The ingredients of this specification twin giant strawberry cake used 275 kilos of fresh  Strawberries and the total of giant cake is 1,738 kilos approximate.

“The Dimensions is 2.4 meters in height, the diameter is 1.7 meters and the length is 3.9 meters and we have 16,000 slices at P30.00 per piece.

“The frame of the cake was made is 1 week, then after the frame the baking of the strawberry cake it took on March 17, at 7:30 AM and finished at 4:27 AM of March 18, 2023.

“The amount we appropriated is P1.2 million just for the cake because the white strawberry is very expensive than the red strawberry, the snow white strawberry is P800 per kilo while the sweet Charlie strawberry is P250 per kilo.”   Photo by: Mario Oclaman // FNS
