Flower, candle sellers request Malcolm Square to display products for Undas
The Baguio Oplan Kaluluwa Flowers and Candle Vendors Association (BOKFCVA), Inc., represented by its President Aida Flores requested the city government to allow them to sell at Malcolm Square from October 26 to November 1, 2022.
The association was able to get the endorsement of the City Environment and Parks Management Office for the use of the park – hopeful to get the City Council’s approval through a resolution.
Only 72 slots will be allowed at the Malcolm Square due to the limited space and selling will be on a first come first served basis to be identified by the association according to Mr. Fernando Ragma of the City Treasury Office.
Vendors were selected per the first 72 who registered during the association’s meeting on Tuesday in consideration of the following guidelines: vendor should be Baguio resident; of legal age; and, no violations regarding Oplan Kaluluwa in the previous years.
A total of P1,393 will be collected per seller: 413 for business tax; P200 for mayor’s permit; P100 for inspection fee; P100 for garbage fee; P80 for electricity and P500 for the use of the area similar to the Night Market rate.
Allowed goods to be sold are candles, cut flowers, potted flowers and other floral materials needed for floral arrangement.
The City Treasury Office identified the Old Library parking area as a drop off point for the candles and flowers from October 27-31 beginning 7PM to 12 midnight. The City Treasury Office will be designating its collector of arrival fees to implement the “No payment, No Unloading Policy” and for the sellers to abide by “Wholesale Only Policy” at the drop-off point. – JMPS
