Family Month celebration firmed up with more barangay activities sought
Activities to celebrate Family month in September were looked over by the Family month steering committee in a meeting last Thursday afternoon at the City Social Welfare and Development Office, Kayang St.
Presided by City Social Welfare and Development Officers Jetterda Junion and Coralie Dulnuan, the meeting was attended by representatives from the offices of Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Michael Lawana, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), KALIPI, Federation of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (FBCPC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Special Services Division โ City Mayor’s Office (SSD-CMO), Person with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Senior Citizens Association in Baguio, Public Information Office and other concerned offices.
Barangays may organize or suggest and coordinate family month activities with their respective district office; it was known from City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cynthia Langagan, during a media forum.
On July 4, a Technical Working Group (TWG) shall meet to formulate guidelines on the Search for the Natatanging Pamilya; whether single parent families or those in other circumstances are included in the natatanging pamilya quest.
The search commences as soon as the guidelines are agreed upon, and ends on August 24. The Natatanging Pamilya entries shall be reviewed on August 25, and validated on August 29 to 31, including individual interviews. The awarding is scheduled on Sept. 25, with the kainang pamilya also expected to be implemented on the same date.
On August 30, an Ugnayan media forum shall be conducted by the Family month Steering committee and the Public Information Office to clear all issues before the Family month launching on Sept. 4.
The kick-off program includes a Zumba routine during the Monday flag raising ceremonies.
On Sept. 16, a barangayan Family clean-up drive is conducted in coordination with the Liga ng mga barangay and KALIPI.
On Sept. 20, a marriage enrichment counseling session is scheduled with the CSWDO personnel with 36 couples.
On September 23, a family fair day at the childrensโ park, and mental health awareness is slated with booths from the BCPO, Health Services Office (HSO), CSWDO, KALIPI, solo parents and other offices/agencies .
The family month culminating activity; the mass wedding ceremony takes place on Sept. 28 with the venue to be announced soon.
Other activities with venues and dates to be arranged and announced soon are: Forum for Solo parents on their benefits and privileges, Orientation on Family Laws, Child Support and Custody, and the Observance of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Prevention Week. – JGF
