DPWH jumpstarts Isabela-Quirino road improvement

By DPWH

QUIRINO, Feb. 2 — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has begun implementing P32.4 million worth of roadway improvement to increase road capacity in the province of Quirino.

According to Secretary Mark Villar, citing a report from Quirino District Engineer Marifel Andes, the project will traverse a portion of the municipality of Saguday to Barangay Mangandingay in Cabarroguis, Quirino.

The off-carriageway improvement is making headway towards its target completion date to make sure the construction will not prolong the inconvenience being experienced by the traveling public since the road section is linked to the northwestern boundary of Isabela, particularly Santiago City, one of the most populated cities in the Region.

Once completed, the road will also facilitate easier transport of Quirino’s major crops like corn and rice to neighboring provinces and to the Metro Manila”, said Secretary Villar.

Also included in the multi-year project is the paving of shoulder with provision of concrete curb, gutter and drainage structures, built under a total allocation of P41.5 million.

The remaining P9.1 million will cover the completion of said improvement, incorporated under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA). (DPWH)
