Designs for city’s livestock market in the works

The City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) under Arch. Johny Degay is currently completing the needed designs for the planned livestock market of the Summer Capital according to City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) head Dr. Silardo Bested.

The city veterinarian said that once the designs are finished, the multi-million project will immediately undergo the bidding process.

Bested disclosed that the livestock market will be constructed at the land along Marcos Highway given by the Department of Agriculture to the city as a usufruct where the DA allows the city the right to enjoy and use the property short of outright ownership.

Live chickens being sold at the public marketโ€™s block four while the pigs, goats and other animals at the Slaughterhouse compound and Lakandula area will all be transferred to the livestock market when it is finished.

He is hoping that the entire project, which he estimates to cost around P60-million and funded by the city, will be completed by the end of this year or sometime in 2023.Earlier, Mayor Benjamin Magalong directed the CVAO to formulate a plan and design for the cityโ€™s livestock market in collaboration with the City Planning and Development Office led by Arch. Donna Tabangin and CBAO. – Gaby B. Keith
