Daylong Drug Ops Yields P1M Worth of Illegal Drugs, Two Drug Personalities Busted
As a result of the continuous fight against illegal drug use and trade in the region, the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) seized a total of PhP1,013,884.00 worth of illegal drugs and arrested two drug personalities in separate operations conducted in the province of Benguet and City of Baguio on November 7, 2024.
In Benguet, four marijuana plantation sites planted with 4,750 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants and 1,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP990,000.00 were discovered by the operatives from the different units of the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), the Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-CAR, Regional Intelligence Unit- 14 (RIU-14), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) in Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan.
The discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site, while enough samples were taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR. Concurrently, PRO-CAR cops are actively investigating to find additional marijuana cultivation sites in the province and apprehend those responsible.
Meanwhile in Baguio City, a 29-year-old female, listed as a High-Value individual, and a 25-year-old male, listed as a Street Level Individual, were arrested after they sold suspected shabu weighing 4.2 grams with an SDP of Php23,884.00 in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Irisan.
The said operation was successful with the joint efforts of operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and RID of PRO-CAR, City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 9 (PS9) of Baguio City Police Office, PNP Drug Enforcement Unit Special Operation Unit-CAR, RIU-14, and PDEA-CAR.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were taken into the custody of PS9 for documentation and proper disposition. The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PIO PRO-CAR /File Photo)
