Curatorial Statement: “Hiraya: Dreams in Bloom”

“Hiraya: Dreams in Bloom” is an inspiring exhibition that celebrates our dreams and aspirations through the enchanting beauty of flowers. Drawing from the Filipino term “Hiraya,” which means the seeds of imagination, this showcase illustrates how our hopes can flourish within a nurturing community.
This exhibit features the work of 48 talented artists and 60 artworks from the Pasakalye group, members, and friends. It presents a diverse range of interpretations of the theme of dreams. Each artwork explores concepts such as unity, growth, love, and passion, all while utilizing the rich flora of our region.

Through the art on display today, we get to experience the personal journeys of these talented artists, each piece reflecting their Hiraya in their own unique and powerful ways,” Peña said.
BTC Chair Gladys Vergara said, “We have to preserve our traditions, culture, and arts. As we all know, Baguio City is the first-ever Philippine city to be designated a UNESCO Creative City for crafts and folk art.
