CRIME SITUATION IN CORDILLERA IMPROVED
Police Regional Office Cordillera has recorded a significant decrease in the total crime incidents in the region in Calendar Year (C.Y.) 2021.
According to the records of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), for C.Y. 2021, there is a total of 3,026 crime incidents recorded in the region. This is 14.30% lower as compared to the 3,531 recorded in C.Y. 2020.
The same record also revealed that Baguio City has the highest recorded decrease of 530 incidents or 31.27%, from 1,695 crime incidents in C.Y. 2020 to 1,165 crime incidents in C.Y. 2021.
Followed by Kalinga, from 445 to 350 or a decrease of 95 crime incidents or 21.35%.
Abra has recorded a 10.28% decrease in their crime incidents, from 467 in C.Y. 2020 to 419 in C.Y. 2021 while Ifugao has 9.57%
decrease from 230 in C.Y. 2020 to 208 in C.Y. 2021.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Benguet, Apayao, and Mountain Province, have recorded an increase in their crime incidents.
In Benguet, from 486 in C.Y. 2020 to 652 in C.Y. 2021. Apayao with 84 in C.Y. 2020 to 98 in C.Y. 2021. Mountain Province with 124 in C.Y. 2020 to 134 in C.Y. 2021.
In a statement, PROCOR’s Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE, lauded the men and women of PROCOR for their efforts for keeping the Cordillera region safer amidst the challenges brought by COVID-19.
