Country Club Village Barangay heads, tanods deputized on stray dog control

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has deputized 15 officials and tanods of Country Club Village barangay as apprehending officers in stray dog control.

With the authority, they are tasked “to apprehend and issue citation tickets to those who shall violate any provisions of” Ordinance NO. 19-2021 or “An Ordinance Codifying Legislations on Dogs: The Responsible Dog Ownership Ordinance of Baguio City.”

In his Executive Order No. 110-2022, the mayor said the barangay officials and tanods underwent training and orientation on the implementation of the provisions of the ordinance on Aug. 12, 2022 facilitated by the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO).

This is a requirement for deputation as stipulated under the ordinance.

Deputized were kagawads Verna Ayson, Domingo Tuguinay, Nestor Almag, Levita Concepcion, Romeo Chua and Jonas Mariano, SK chair Sonny Argueza, barangay secretary Rachene Castillones, barangay tanods Juanito Derige Jr., Limuel Marquez, Fernando Ronquillo Jr., Rebecca Liwan, Danilo Estillong and Jonathan Fabrigas.

As apprehending officers, they can:
*Impose and enforce responsibilities of pet owners as provided in the ordinance; undertake apprehension for violation and issue corresponding citation tickets; supervise and implement monthly rabies vaccination of animals; seize stray dog found in public streets, highways, schools, parks, public playgrounds, churches, hospitals and places of the barangay and deliver said seized animals to the City Animal Pound if there is no barangay pound; and perform other duties relative to the ordinance. – Aileen P.
