Council recognizes Skate Fest winners

City officials recently commended Ricardo T. Diaz, Jr., Daron Leif L. Laranang and Mark Anthony Villarosa for winning the Megafest October Skate Fest held in San Fernando City, Pampanga last October 14-15, 2023.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that it is with great pride and joy that the local government and the people confer the appropriate commendation to Diaz, Laranang and Villarosa for their accomplishments during the Megafest October Skate Fest.

The council claimed that skateboarding is now a sport duly recognized internationally and locally after debuting in the Olympics in 2021.

With its growing popularity in the country with the exposure brought about by the likes of Margielyn Didal, skateboarding is now gaining recognition as a legitimate sport.

Earlier, the Megafest October Skate Fest was held at the Robinson’s Starmills, San Fernando City, Pampanga last October 14-15, 2023.

During the said event, three Baguio-based skateboarders participated and won in different categories.

Diaz won the Best Trick and Ledge in the open category; Laranang emerged as the champion in Class A while Villarosa settled for second runner up in Class S.

The body stipulated that the outstanding performances of the local skateboarders portrayed unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through years of training and dedication that served as inspiration for the whole city and the country and are worthy of emulation to the people of the nation and to the city, especially to the youth, who wish to seek other  forms of alternative sports. – Dexter A.
