Council recognizes bemedaled bodybuilder
City officials commended and congratulated physique athlete Rommel Carrillo for winning multiple medals in the recently concluded Natural Bodybuilding Australia Universe held on November 5, 2022.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that it is with great pride and joy that the people and officialdom of the city confer the said commendation to valued physique athlete Rommel Carrillo who successfully represented the city in the national staging of the sporting event.
The council claimed that bodybuilding or physique is a regimen of exercises designed to enhance the human bodyโs muscular development and promote general health and fitness.
As a competitive activity, bodybuilding aims to display in artistic fashion pronounced muscle mass, symmetry, and definition for overall aesthetic effect. Barbells, dumbbells, and other resistance training devices are used in the exercises.
Under Ordinance No. 47, series of 2021, otherwise known as the City Sports Code, bodybuilding is recognized as a sporting event where the city emphasizes strong support to Baguio athletes who continuously dream big amidst the present uncertainties.
On November 5, 2022, Carillo, a 23-year old Baguio resident, a bodybuilding and physique athlete joined as a contender to the 2022 edition of the Natural Bodybuilding Australia Universe.
He clinched one gold under the bodybuilding category, one gold from classic physique, one silver from beginnerโs physique, and one bronze from short physique, totaling to 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The council pointed out that Carilloโs outstanding performance has portrayed unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through years of practice and dedication that serves as an inspiration and is worthy of emulation to the people of the city, especially to the youth. – Dexter A.
