Council commends Baguio boy for garnering medallion of excellence
City officials commended and congratulated Jonathan S. Supsupin, a student scholar at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority–Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (TESDA-CSITE) main campus in the city, for bagging the Medallion of Excellence during the World Skills Competition 2022 in the cooking category, held at Messe Luzern, Switzerland on October 19-28, 2022.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the people and officialdom of the city celebrate Supsupin’s victory and accord him the recognition and honor for the fame and accolade he has brought not only to his family and institution but also to the entire city.
The World Skills Competition raises the prolife and recognition of skilled people, and shows how important skills are in achieving economic growth. It also encourages training to the highest level and aims at inspiring the youth to pursue a career in skilled trades and technologies to build the future workforce.
Further, the World Skills Competition is composed of contested activities in various skills and participated in by numerous skilled workers from different parts of the world.
Supsupin bagged the Medallion Excellence during the World Skills Competition 2022– cooking category special edition competition.The council disclosed that the honor garnered by a Baguio boy is the country’s first in the cooking category of the said competition and proved that the country’s technical-vocational training is at par with their international counterpart. – Dexter A.
