Cordillerans Condemn NDFP Anniversary of the CTGs

The Youth for Peace (YFP)- Baguio Chapter in partnership with the Task Group (TG)- Baguio conducted a Peace Concert and Cultural Presentation with the theme “Bridging Cultural Diversity and Youth Empowerment in the Advocacy of Sustainable Peace and Development” participated by various Youth-led Organizations, Non-Government Organizations and People’s Organizations in Cordillera on 24 April 2023 held at Malcolm Square, Baguio City.

The said event showcased the rich Cordilleran History and Cultural Identity thru a patriotic collective gathering of individuals and groups from various sectors who support socio-political stability in the attainment of just, genuine, and lasting peace in the city as well as in the region.

In his message, PLTCOL RUEL TAGEL, Acting Force Commander, RMFB15, emphasized that despite having cultural diversity, we must enjoy it because having different mentality, cultures, and traditions will distinguish us from each other and if we want peace, we have to work for it, there should be an effort and joining in the Peace Concert itself is an effort.

“In order to achieve peace, we should have to have a strong mind and help our neighbors (kababayans). We should help them to be educated and well-informed so that they will not be manipulated and exploited by the Communist Terrorist Groups. They say that the root of all evil is money but don’t you know that the root of all evil is ignorance? If you are well-informed, you are not ignorant and you might as well help other people,” PLTCOL TAGEL added.

Moreover, youth representatives from different sectors also shared their experiences and knowledge on Peace and Development Initiatives among themselves and expressed their gratitude to the organizers for inviting them and be part of the said activity. Likewise, Ms. CJ Catbagan, President, Nagkakaisang Samahan para sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran (NSKK), and Ka Red also gave their narration of historical events and testimonies regarding the legitimate Cordillera Day which is July 15.

A series of Cultural Presentation was performed by the Og-ogfu Cultural Group, Binnadang Cultural Group, RMFB Dance Troop, BCPO Cultural Dance Troop, RSTU-Cordillera Dance Group, TG- Baguio, YFP- Baguio and Youth Mobile Force while the Peace Concert was composed by the 5th Infantry Division (5ID) Band and NSKK Band.

The Peace Concert and Cultural Presentation was a sequel of the “Peace Convention: Peace Walk and Peace Concert” last 29 March 2023. ### (PR)
