Conversion of Lucban into an integrated school backed

City officials recently supported the proposed conversion of the Lucban Elementary School into an integrated school through its expansion.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the conversion of one of the most populated public elementary schools in the city, the Lucban Elementary School, into an integrated school will surely enhance the totality of the learning environment with conducive classrooms, improved facilities and equipment, and personnel rightsizing.

The council anchored its decision to support the proposed conversion of the school into an integrated school on the constitutional provision where the State affirms its utmost regard to quality education pursuant with its declaration that it shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

Further, Baguio City is a center of education north of Manila manifested by the rapidly increasing number of students enrolled in the various education institutions in the different parts of the city aside from high quality professional graduates that such institutions produce annually.

The body claimed that the proposed conversion of the Lucban Elementary School into an integrated school is a timely response of the government to the increasing number of learners within its catchment area in the northwestern part of the city.

Moreover, its proposed conversion into an integrated school aims to make junior high school accessible to most of its graduates; decongest the over populated enrollment of the nearest junior high schools in the city proper and nearby barangays; provide higher possibility for less fortunate learners in the catchment area to continue their junior high school education with utmost convenience and accessibility and provide seamless transition that ensure the smooth progression from Grades 7-10 and to senior high school.

Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices of the local government and regional line agencies for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. Dexter A. See
