Lungsod ng Baguio –  Pinangunahan ng SM Prime Holdings at ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST-CAR) ang pagbubukas ng mall exhibit sa UG Sunset Terraces, SM City Baguio, Thursday (February 24, 2022) at magtatapos hanggang sa March 24, 2022.

Kasama sa pagkalas ng ribbon sina (From l-r) Maricar Docyogen – President of the Pasa-kalye Group of Artists and promoting the sustainability through Arts, DOST-CAR Regional Director Dr. Nancy A. Bantog and Assistant Vice President for Operations, North 1 Engr. Marc Janssen T. Pe.

Janssen, “Climate change is the biggest environmental problem the world is facing today,”

“With the leadership of Dr. Nancy we were inspired to find ways to make things better for the people and the planet this word encourages us to start the sustainability journey and take responsibility for protecting and preserving an environment,” ani Pe

Sa mensahe naman ni DOST-CAR Director Dr. Nancy, “Our world is changing drastically and is often challenged with various disruptive events, disasters from extreme weather conditions, and water and food shortages due to climate change.

The severity of the impact of these events, that are experienced in all parts of the world, vary from one place to another. These changes are not just caused by environmental degradation, climate change and poor disaster risk reduction and management, but also by the shifting social and economic conditions.

Your theme “Connecting Today to Tomorrow” is very timely and appropriate. Everything is connected and no one works in silo. I quote from Chief Seattle, “Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

“We hope to implement more projects in the future. I hope and believe that this day’s activity will lead to more collaborative projects between the SM Prime Holdings and the DOST-CAR for our region. Just like you, we strongly believe that sustainability and resiliency are our answers to this challenging era. With the science technology and innovation in the forefront, we could do it together. Congratulations again, SM City Baguio,”

Siinabi ni Dr. Nancy sa isang panayam, “The communication is very important when we like to communicate if there is good news even bad news kailangan ang communication and we know that SM is very strong in their advocacies in communicating whatever is there to their constituents with also have the means through their malls such that at the national level nag umpisa itong partnership  there was agreement sa national top management and started with this partnership  with SM wherein we advocate the concern regarding science technology education one of which are the technologies on disaster-resilient reduction management so, ito ang first na gagawin natin dito sa Baguio on exhibit for disaster resilient technologies,”

Sa ganitong panahon marami ng nangyayaring disasters events, and the more ang mga teknolohiya, innovation na nadebelop ng DOST kailangan malaman ng ating publiko kaya ito yun isa,  exhibit, while on our end we go to the grassroots, we coordinate with  LGU’s, OCD but for this private partnership with SM and this is a very good mechanism,” pagtatapos ni Director Bantog
