COMELEC GUN BAN VIOLATORS, APPREHENDED IN ABRA
Two COMELEC gun ban violators were apprehended by the operatives of Police Regional Office Cordillera in a separate COMELEC Checkpoint were conducted in Abra on January 12 and 13 2022.
According to the reports reaching the Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as Ariel Berame Bugtong, 28 years old and John Mark Bigornia Castillo, 31 years old.
In Brgy. Calaba, Bangued, Abra, suspect Bugtong was apprehended after a short chase with the police officers of Bangued MPS.
Accordingly, Mr. Bugtong tried to evade the COMELEC Checkpoint by speeding away his driven motorcycle. The quick reaction of the police officers resulted in his arrest.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect is one (1) Beretta .9 mm pistol bearing the serial no. BER1638162 inserted with one (1) magazine loaded with eight (8) live ammunition.
In a separate COMELEC checkpoint conducted in Brgy. Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra, suspect Castillo was arrested after the handgrip of his pistol was seen by the police officers after he opened his bag to get his driver’s license.
Seized from the suspect is one (1) ARMSCOR Cal.45 pistol with Serial No. 126510 the last digit defaced, chamber loaded and inserted with one (1) magazine containing six (6) pieces of live ammunition, one (1) black pouch containing 43 pieces of live ammunition for Calibre 45.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Bangued MPS for documentation and proper disposition while facing charges for violating RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Sec. 261 in relation to COMELEC Resolution No. 10728 (Gun Ban). (PROCOR-PIO)
