City’s newly-elected barangay officials sworn into office
“Gawin mo man ang tama o mali, marami pa rin magagalit sa iyo. But at the end of the day, you must choose what is right for the community and the people of Baguio.”
Thus, Mayor Benjamin Magalong in his congratulatory message to the Summer Capital’s newly-elected barangay officials, Nov. 20, at the City Hall grounds before swearing them into office.
“You don’t owe any political leaders any gratitude.Kung meron po kayong pinagkakautangan ng utang na loob, sila po yung mga taong bomoto sa inyo. The reason why you were elected, and the people chose you, is because of your hard work and have performed exceedingly well in your community and provided leadership,” he stressed.
The Mayor pointed out several challenges that the city faces and needs to be addressed including solid and liquid waste management, corruption, building permit issues, enforcement of traffic rules and regulations, climate change and disaster resiliency concerns, and more.
He also urged the barangay officials to choose the right person who will represent them in the city council based on credibility, integrity and leadership and will be an advocate for good governance.
“We, in the city government, need your help. Let us all work together,” the Mayor appealed.
Also giving messages during the oath taking ceremony were Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, councilor and liga president Michael Lawana, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) city office head Millicent Carino, and Sol Go, wife of Rep. Mark Go. – Gaby B. Keith, Ariel U. Biala
