City to increase entrance fee at Baguio Botanical Garden

The city government of Baguio will be conducting a public hearing to gather suggestions on the proposed increase of entrance fee at the Baguio Botanical Garden.

The City Environment and Parks Management Office will lead the public hearing scheduled May 25, 2022 starting 2PM at the Baguio Convention Center.

The City Government through the City Treasury Office is currently collecting Php5 as entrance fee for kids and Php10 for adults based on the provisions of the Cityโ€™s Environmental Code passed in 2016 (Ordinance No. 18-2016).

The Botanical Garden was closed to the public on May last year for rehabilitation works particularly the development of the orchidarium, Dahlia Garden, Cosmos Bed, Azalea Mountain, Sunflower Section, Milflores River, Colors of Impatiens, Waves of Yellow Marguirite, Lilies of Baguio, Asian Garden and Everlasting. It was reopened to the public on March 6, 2022 during the opening of the Panagbenga Festival.

Atty. Rhenan Diwas, department head of CEPMO said the city was able to collect more than Php800,000 from entrance fees in March and over Php1.5 million in April.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong mandated the CEPMO and the City Treasury to improve the ticketing system at the Botanical Garden as well as conduct a public hearing to gauge what would be the reasonable rate for the planned increase of fees. โ€“ Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
