City reach 98% in adult vaccination, 64% in pediatric group

A little less than 6,000 unregistered and unvaccinated individuals are being searched to have their first dose, for the city’s complete herd immunity. At least 45,000 need to have their second dose.    

Registration may be done at bakuna.baguio.gov.ph while schedules are posted at Baguio at the Baguio City Health Services Office and Public Information Office facebook pages. Persons with concerns such as immobility or those house-bound may contact their barangay health workers. 

Data on Dec. 2 shows that 275,099 or 97.9% of the eligible population of 281,000 had their first dose; and 236,138 or 84.03% are fully vaccinated. All are from priority groups, A1 to A6.

There were 7,537 who availed of the boosters shots. Said numbers are expected to increase dramatically as national health authorities announced that adults (or those above 18 years old) who received their second dose six months ago, could now line up for a booster jab. Earlier, only those immune-compromised could have a third shot.

Those who received the one-dose Janssen could have their booster after at least three months. Earlier-issued QR codes are used for booster shots.

For the eligible pediatric population of 42,811; 64.07% or 27,431 had their first dose; while 32.99% or 14,125 had their second dose. A projection shows that full vaccination of adolescents may be up to mid-January 2022.

The city’s adult population has surpassed the 70% herd immunity target set by the Department of Health (DOH), as reported by City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo during the management committee meeting.

The city set a target of 281,000 adults while the Department of Health Regional Office gave the city 262,185 as target for adults. – Julie G. Fianza
