City mourns passing of former SLU-SVP Punong Barangay

Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council resolution no. 443, series of 2022, expressing deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of former punong barangay and kagawad Filemon Benigno F. Rimorin of SLU-SVP barangay who died on September 15, 2022 at the age of 88 and recognizing his contributions to the barangay.

The approved measure states that Rimorin was one of the pillars and once president of the SLU-SVP multipurpose cooperative from 1980 to 1981.

He was elected in 1997 as punong barangay of SLU-SVP and served until 2002.

“Under Rimorin’s leadership, he was able to undertake programs on clean and green, barangay beautification, peace and order, and community development through the participation of residents,” the resolution reveals.

In 2008, after a six-year break from barangay service, he decided to run and won as barangay kagawad and continued serving the community of SLU-SVP barangay until 2017.

“Rimorin will always be remembered as a man of service of good governance. He left a legacy that remains in the hearts of his family and the community he served. He stood as a testament for others who have chosen to devote their life to public service, like him,” the measure states. – Gaby B. Keith
