City Library now open Mondays to Saturdays
The City Library announced that starting Saturday, July 2, 2022, it will be open from Mondays to Saturdays to cater to the needs of library goers from the different parts of the city.
City librarian Easter Pablo stated that the library hours during the said days will be from 8 am to 5 pm as partial compliance to the ordinance mandating the modernization of the library.
Further, she added that the regular storytelling at the park, which is one of the extension activities of the city library, will also be moved to Saturdays at the childrenโs park to cater to the reading interest of the young ones who will be in the area during the conduct of the said activity.
The city librarian explained that its personnel cannot yet comply with the 10pm close of office hours primarily because of the implementation of the prevailing community quarantine restrictions aside from the lack of personnel to do extended work hours and the limited number of library goers.
Pablo claimed that library goers are increasing day by day that is why personnel are constantly reminding them to continue adhering to the implementation of the minimum public health standards while in the library to prevent the occurrence of untoward incidents that may cause the transmission of the dreaded CoronaVirus Disease (COVID) 2019 pandemic.
She expressed her gratitude to some 4 volunteers who are helping them in discharging their duties and responsibilities aside from 2 senior high school volunteers who are assisting them to attend to the needs of library growers.
According to her, the city library is still in need of more volunteers, particularly students and graduates of library science, for them to be able to acquire the needed experience for their future jobs and help in extending assistance to library goers wanting to avail of the available library services offered in the facility.
Pablo encouraged the residents and visitors alike to visit the city library and avail of its various services as the same has substantial reading and reference materials for their prescribed purposes.
She assured that the city library is doing its best to acquire additional reading and reference materials that could be offered for the interested library goers as part of its compliance to the prescribed modernization. โ Dexter A. See
