City honors another Centenarian
City officials honored Concepcion Baucan Aquino as a centenarian of the city.
Under Resolution No. 481, series of 2022, Concepcion Baucan Aquino turned 100 on July 25, 2022 having a total of 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is described by others as a woman with a humble and gentle spirit and an appreciative demeanor.
Conception is also described as being easy to get along with, someone who is a good listener and a friend. Her longevity is from healthy living and proper family caregiving.
Her family claimed that her Godly lifestyle is her happiness even as a centenarian.
She was born on July 25, 1922 in Itogon, Benguet but lived in Baguio city.
She was married to Leon Aquino of Besao, Mountain Province On September 7, 1940 in Baguio City and the couple was blessed with 9 children who were all raised and trained as accomplished individuals in their respective chosen fields of service to other people.
Republic Act (RA) 10868 otherwise known as the Centenarian Act of 2016 honors and grants additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians.
The implementing rules and regulations of the said law mandated that aside from the benefits and privileges given by the national government, local government units shall also grant awards and incentives to Filipino centenarians who are residents in their respective jurisdictions.
The council claimed that longevity is a blessing for an individual and for a community which benefits from the knowledge, creativity and experiences the said individuals bring to all.
The local government acknowledged the elderly as important members of society and champions their rights as manifested in various ordinances and resolutions passed and adopted affording them benefits and privileges.
The council added that the new centenarian be awarded the privileges pursuant to Ordinance No. 45, series of 2013 as amended by Ordinance No. 53, series of 2016 and further amended by Ordinance No. 84, series of 2018 as amended by Ordinance No. 10, series of 2022. – Dexter A. See
