City holds wellness activity for elders

“To my dear co-seniors, may today be a reminder that wellness is not just a destination but a daily dance, a continuous game of bingo where every number and every step is a part of the larger, beautiful picture of your lives.”

Thus declared Mayor Benjamin Magalong in his message read by his wife, Arlene, during the Senior Citizens’ Wellness Activity (Social Bingo and Ballroom Dance Lessons), Dec. 13, at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.

The whole-day event was conducted by the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).

“Each number called from your bingo cards is a reminder that life is full of surprises, and every moment is an opportunity to celebrate. Also, the dance of life is most beautiful when shared. In this big hall, we will not only learn dance steps but embrace the rhythm of connection, the sway of friendship, and the elegance of togetherness,” the Mayor’s message stated.

It ended: “Cheers to the wellness of mind, body, and soul – to laughter, to friendships new and old, and to the timeless dance of life.”

CSWDO officer-in-charge Cynthia Langagan announced that more wellness activities catering to the Summer Capital’s elders are planned to be conducted next year.

Also delivering messages were councilors Elmer Datuin and Betty Lourdes Tabanda including OSCA chairperson Laurito Alinao. – Gaby B. Keith
