City earmarks P5.2 million aid to indigent patients
City officials provided for the breakdown of the medical assistance for indigent patients at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) amounting to P5,213,085.07 from the 2022 appropriation under the non-office account, particularly the support to national offices, specifically the BGHMC.
Under Resolution NO. 509, series of 2022, local legislators stated there is a new set of members of the city council effective July 1, 2022, thus, the need for a new breakdown of the said medical assistance that will include the 4 new members of the said body.
For the year 2022, the city government appropriated P12.6 million to be used as financial assistance to indigent patients at the BGHMC.
The council claimed that as per memorandum of agreement (MOA) entered into by and between the city government and BGHMC, the amount of P5.1 million from the 2022 appropriation under the non-office account, particularly the support to national offices, specifically BGHMC, shall be used as additional medical assistance for indigent patients pursuant to Resolution NO. 099, series of 2009.
As of October 31, 2022, the total amount of P5,213,085.07 as medical assistance for this year is still available for disposition and that the update reflects further the corresponding balance to date for each official.
The council noted that the amount of P210,421,.87 and P403,831.87 in excess of the fiscal year 2022 allocations shall be charged against the allocations for next year of the City Council members concerned. Dexter A. See
