City earmarks P5.1 million for medical aid program
City officials recently set aside the amount of P5.1 million for the city government’s medical assistance or city aid program for indigent patients in the city for the year 2023 at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
Under Resolution No. 401, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the aforesaid said amount will be allotted to the City Mayor – P600,000, City Vice Mayor – P510,000 and the members of the local legislative body – P266,000 each.
Earlier, the city council passed Resolution No. 310, series of 2023 authorizing the City Mayor representing the local government to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the BGHMC for the implementation of the medical assistance city aid program for indigent patients in the city for the year 2023.
For this year, the local government appropriated some P17.1 million to be used as financial assistance to BGHMC under the said program.
As per the MOA entered into by and between the local government and BGHMC, P12 million shall be programmed for the purchase of various medical equipment for the premier tertiary hospital in the city while the remaining P5.1 million shall be used for the continuous implementation of the city aid program through the medical assistance to indigent patients. The approved resolution will be transmitted to the BGHMC for the management’s information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
Indigent patients wanting to avail of the medical assistance from the city officials must present their medical abstract and diagnosis from their respective physicians and their certificates of indigency which will be subject to evaluation and assessment by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). – Dexter A.
