City conducts ‘Easter Sunrise in Baguio’ Lenten event
Residents and visitors are invited to join the annual celebration of “Easter Sunrise in Baguio: A Wholesome Family Event” on Sunday, April 17, starting 5 am, at Malcolm Square, conducted by the city government in partnership with the Baguio Character Council (BCC).
Part of the Summer Capital’s observance of Holy Week, the activity is spearheaded by the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) under Atty. Augustin Laban III, BCC coordinator.
Laban said Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Panayo is the event’s keynote speaker with Mayor Benjamin Magalong, BCC chairman, tasked to deliver the opening remarks and Easter message.
Also giving their Easter messages are Baguio Rep. Marquez Go and Vice-Mayor Faustino Olowan. An intermission number will be provided by the Department of Education choir, he disclosed.
Highlighting the activity is the reading of Bible passages by city councilors and representatives of various government offices and offering intercessory prayers for government, peace and order, environment, family, health, elections, education, churches, economy, media, tourism, and social services.
Laban said a music festival will be held after the prayers featuring Blood of the Lamb Ministries, Solid Rock Ministries, Episcopal Renewal Ministries, UCCP, and the City Hall Band. – Gaby B. Keith
