City commends honest employees

The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, commended and congratulated Rodney Visperas and Amani Sarip, both employees of SM City Baguio, for exhibiting nobility and honesty in returning a substantial amount of money to its rightful owner.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the local government holds honor and privilege to have citizens who are truly imbued with admirable values of honesty and trustworthiness.

Earlier, the city has been designated as a Character City and honesty is one of its moral standards which should be possessed by the citizenry.

Visparas of Saber Alpha Security Agency works as a security guard while Sarip works as a store merchandiser both at SM City Baguio.

On August 25, 2022, while Visperas was on his regular duty at the entrance of the said mall, Sarip from the desert section called his attention to a bag that was placed on top of the goods at the rice section.

Visperas, without any other thought, immediately surrendered the lost and found pink sling bag to the customer service representative as part of the protocol where the same turned out to have contained a total amount of P600,000.00.

An hour later, Visperas was informed that a customer inquired at the customer service section and was verified as the owner of the said sling bag.

The council asserted that the local government commends and recognizes such an honest and outstanding act of nobility which is worthy of emulation by the residents and visitors alike. – Dexter A. See
