City certifies ownership of 16 district health centers
City officials recently certified ownership by the local government of the sixteen district health centers which are extending and providing primary health care services in the different areas of the city, specifically at Asin, Atab, Atok Trail, Aurora Hill, Campo Filipino, City Camp, Engineers Hill, Irisan, Lucban, Loakan, Mines View, Pacdal, Pinsao, Quezon Hill, Quirino Hill and Scout Barrio as requisite for licensing purposes by the health department.
Under Resolution No. 104, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the enactment of this resolution supports the requisite for the application to the Department of Health for the issuance of the appropriate license as primary health care facilities of the said 16 district health centers, all owned by the city government after these were established in strategic areas to cater to the effective and efficient delivery of health care services to the people in the city’s 128 barangays.
Earlier, the city government facilitated the establishment of the 16 district health centers in strategic areas around the city over the past several decades to meet the increasing demand of the population for the provision of basic health care services in the city’s various barangays under the jurisdiction of these district health centers.
These primary health care facilities are reportedly extending the necessary support in providing health care programs in the city for the benefit of the people in the city’s 128 barangays with some already accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation as implementers of the government’s universal health care program.
Currently, the health department is conducting the licensing of primary health care facilities in the different provinces, cities and municipalities around the country to further enhance the implementation of the universal health care program that will guarantee the cascading to the grassroots level basic health care services.
Access to health is one of the basic needs of the people that must be provided by the government through the health department and primary health care facilities to ensure a healthy population.
