CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND REOPENS

CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND REOPENS

The newly improved Children’s Playground at Burnham Park teemed with children during its reopening on March 27.

Kids frolicked around trying the play facilities, five of which are new while the rest are old but refurbished for the safety of the users.

City Environment and Parks Management Officer Rhenan Diwas presided over the ceremonial reopening in behalf of Mayor Benjamin Magalong along with Coun. Betty Lourdes Tabanda.

The children themselves led the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon to officially open the play place.

The Baguio City Library under City Librarian Easter Pablo facilitated book reading and storytelling sessions for the children.ย  Two areas have been designated as such books as educational attractions of the playground.

Diwas said his office has adopted guidelines consistent with the new normal to ensure the kids’ health and safety while using the facilities.  The guidelines include a limit to the number of kids allowed to enter and play at a time.

Diwas assured that all the facilities inside the playground are suited for children ages 12 years and under and designed to encourage interaction and build camaraderie among them.

Parents will have their own seating areas strategically placed to allow them to relax while overseeing their kids.

The playground now has an improved landscape and greenery and safety features including sanded landing spots for each play facility.

The upgrading project which began in 2019 is part of the city governmentโ€™s ongoing parks rejuvenation program. โ€“ Aileen P. Refuerzo ๐Ÿ“ธ Neil Ongchangco
