Call on for couples’ application for mass wedding as culminating Family Month Celebration in September

Interested and qualified couples may apply to join the mass wedding in September as the culminating activity of family month.

The application process was looked over in a meeting of the Family Week steering committee headed by the Office of the Social Welfare and Development, last Thursday at the Youth Center in Kayang Street.

Applicants who have lived-in or cohabitated for more than five years should be more than twenty-five years old, the process states.

They secure a community tax certificate at the city treasury office, city hall; secure certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); and acquire a tree planting certificate from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO).

Couples should apply at least two days at the CEPMO before the preferred schedule of tree planting, either on a Monday or a Wednesday, 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Seedlings for planting may be bought at plant booths.

In place of a marriage license, the live-in partners should secure an affidavit of cohabitation from any legal officer. For this program, however, the applicants may avail of the services from the offices of Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, and Councilors Betty Lourdes Tabanda and Elmer Datuin.

For applicants who wish to join the mass wedding, a marriage license from the Local Civil Registrar’s Office (LCR) is required. A CENOMAR from the PSA is also required, as with the tree planting certificate from CEPMO; and a pre-marriage counseling (PMC) at the Health Services Office (HSO) along T. Alonzo street.

Applicants ages 18 to 20 are required to have their parents’ consent, while those 21 to 24 years old are required to have parents’ advice.

The marriage license or affidavit of cohabitation should be submitted at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Upper Session road, not later than September 8, 2023.

All applicants; with an affidavit of cohabitation or marriage license, should attend the Marriage Enrichment Counseling on September 20, 2023; and the wedding day on Sept. 28. The venue shall still be arranged.

Inquiries are entertained at the CSWDO or any of the CSWDO unit offices.

Social Worker Jeterda Junio presided over the meeting of representatives from the concerned offices: Federation of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (FBCPC), Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association (FBASECA), Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI), Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Community Affairs, Special Services Division, Public Information Office (PIO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).

Representatives from the office of Councilor Mike Lawana, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president, Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Balikatan sa Kaunlaran are present. Councilors Elmer Datuin and Lilia Farinas are also members of the committee. – JGF
