FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City – (May 10, 2024) In the Kapihan held at the PMA, the top performing cadets who will graduate on May 18th was presented to the media led by PMA Superintendent LTGEN ROWEN S. TOLENTINO, first he introduced the female cadet from Surigao City who in Top 1 is 1CL JENETH B. ELUMBA, 24 who will join the Philippine Army.
Magna cum laude Cadet 1CL Jeneth B. Elumba, ranked first among the 278 graduating cadets of the PMA Bagong Sinag (Bagong Henerasyong Gagampanan ang Tama: Serbisyo, Integridad, at Nasyonalismo ang Aming Gabay) Class of 2024. She will join the Philippine Army and will receive the Presidential Saber Award from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., guest of honor and speaker, during the graduation rites.
She will also be honored with the Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award, Tactics Group Award, JUSMAG Saber Award, and Philippine Army Saber Award.
Following, Cadet 1CL Mark Armuel U. Boiles, 21, from Novaliches, Quezon City will be awarded as salutatorian. Boiles, who will join the Air Force, will receive the Vice Presidential Saber Award, Academic Group Award, Management Plaque, Air Force Professional Courses Plaque, Gen. Antonio Luna Award, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award, and Philippine Air Force Award.
In a message from PMA Supt. Tolentino, “The Academy’s mission is to instruct train, and develop the cadets so that each graduate shall possess the character broad in these military skills and the education essential to the successful pursuit of a progressive military career.
“The leading evidence of the academy’s mission achievement of these top-performing cadets is the embattlement of young men and women who were developed to possess the skills and education needed to thrive in this ever-evolving world.
“The four years in the academy have been challenging they have encountered countless barriers that made them stronger they have faced a multitude of obstacles in both academic and military training ultimately what truly matters was their ability to overcome all these challenges with courage and perseverance and notably surpassed them with flying colors, to our top performing cadets your stay in the academy manifest every experience story and victory you have achieved starting with your first step in the Borromeo Field during the reception rites followed by the incorporation until the recognition as part of the cadet corp demonstrate you’re educated in the exhaling at every assigned task and now you’re with us showing your remarkable competence in both mental and physical aspects which others can only dream of achieving.
“You are the living epitome of this generation and may your footsteps be far from all other you to strive to become future leaders also of our nation.
“Continue to uphold the core values of Alma Mater “Courage, Integrity, and Loyalty especially when you are already in your respective branches of service.
“As future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines consistently uphold what is morally right guided by the principles learned in the academy reflect all of the sacrifices you have encountered and make it motivate vision to persist especially when you are in the team.
“Enjoy your achievement as well as your plan keep invested in your home career however humble it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of times,” Tolentino concluded.
In an interview with 1CL Elumba said, “I feel blessed and also grateful to God for given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a top 1, to top performing cadet here in the prestigious military institution the Philippine Military Academy, there are struggles along the way but one challenge that a female cadet face here in the PMA is the perception that soldiery is a male-dominated career or environment but we have to take note that female cadets here in PMA are given equal opportunity to excel and even hold a leadership position in the cadet corps,”
1CL Joshua Adrianne T. Gonzales, 22, of South Cotabato, will receive the Chief of Staff Saber award.
1CL Samuel Aldous G. Gloria, 24 of Camp 7, Baguio City will receive the Chief Justice Saber award.
1CL Thrisha Mae L. Capul, 24 of Davao City will receive a Journalism Award.
Seven cum laude cadets will also receive awards – 1CL Paula Joy T. Aviquivil, (PAF); 1CL Mitzi B. Binamira, (PAF); 1CL Jeenela C. Calumba, (PAF); 1CL Ronald B. It-itan, (PA); 1CL Matthew Vince B. Echague, (PN); 1CL Jeonel L. Cabansay, (PAF) and 1CL Christian L. Nadunza, (PA)
The PMA Bagong Sinag Class of 2024 is composed of 278 cadets of which 224 are males and 54 are females.
144 of them will join the Philippine Army, 62 cadets will join the Philippine Air Force and 72 cadets will join the Philippine Navy.
For Educational Attainment of the graduates, 130 are college graduates, 16 are college undergraduates, and 132 are Senior High School Graduates.
As shown in the profile of the graduating cadets per Region all regions are well represented with the highest coming the National Capital Region, the Cordilleras, and Region IV-A.
On May 16 (Thursday) will have a CCAFP Sports Achievement Awarding Ceremony and Athletic Show at 9:30 AM and Ring Hop at 5 PM.
May 17 (Friday) Awarding Ceremony for Outstanding Cadets and CCAFP Units at 9 AM.
May 18 (Saturday) CCAFP Graduation Parade, Changing of Guards and Commencement Exercises at 9 AM. ### (Mario Oclaman //FNS)
