Bridge of Peace: Nabenngan Footbridge a gift to the people of Sadanga
With its groundbreaking ceremony conducted on January 8, 2021, the symbolic Nabenngan Footbridge in Sadanga, a 320-meter long suspension footbridge, started its construction through the accumulated funds stemming from the donations of several government agencies and stakeholders including the amount raised by the men and women of Police Regional Office Cordillera.
According to the late Mayor Gabino P. Ganggangan, their shift from armed struggle to peaceful talks with the government eventually led to the conceptualization of the footbridge under the community development program of the peace process.
Thus, in recognition and gratitude to the efforts of the people of Sadanga to fight insurgency, PROCOR under the then leadership of PBGEN RWIN PAGKALINAWAN has raised Php 4.1M thru the โSadanga Footbridge Challengeโ.
More than a year after its groundbreaking, the Nabenngan Footbridge was formally inaugurated and turned over to the people of Sadanga on April 29, 2022.
The historic event was attended by PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE; Director ALBERT A MOGOL of the OCD-CAR; Provincial Director of Mt. Province PPO, PCOL RUBEN ANDISO; and the Municipal Mayor of Sadanga, Hon. Albert T. Ayao-ao.
As part of the program, the ceremonial ribbon cutting was led by Dir. Mogol and Mayor Ayao-ao while the unveiling of the marker was led by PBGEN LEE.
With its formal opening, the Nabenngan Footbridge will provide great benefit to the farmers of Nabenngan, Napoyowan, Fagwang, and Ogging. The footbridge will also be used as an entry and exit to the commuters from several barangays and an alternate path for the community and visitors when main roads are impassable during rainy seasons.
