Bguio, Eilat Sisterhood ties okayed

City officials accepted the officer of the City of Eilat, State of Israel for the foregoing of a sisterhood or twinning relationship with the city.

Under Resolution No. 475, series of 2022, local legislators directed the Philippine International Sisterhood and Twinning Association–Baguio City Chapter (PHISTA-BCC) committee to prepare the necessary documents to effect the establishment of sisterhood ties with the City of Eilat in Israel.

On November 21, 2022, a team from the city government and their counterparts from the City of Eilat led by Mayor Eli Lankri had a virtual meeting and discussed the establishment of a sisterhood relationship between the 2 cities.

Pursuant to Ordinance No. 42, series of 2008, otherwise known as the Baguio Sisterhood and Twinning Ordinance, the city government, through independent and mutual desires, has been establishing and forging twinning and sisterhood arrangements with domestic and international cities.

Further, the city is committed to establish sister city alliances with other cities of like qualities as well as twinning relationships with other local government units for the purpose of fostering long-term mutual partnerships that assist communities gain a national and global perspective to the challenges they face through planned cultural, educational, business/trade and humanitarian assistance exchanges.

In the said regard, the PHISTA-BCC in its Resolution No. 03, series of 2022, forwarded to the local legislative body and the city mayor’s Office has strongly endorsed the forging of sisterhood ties between Baguio City and the City of Eilat, State of Israel. – Dexter A. See
