BCPO ruled out foul play on the death of a Baguio Cop

The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances behind the death of a police officer who was found unconscious in their bathroom in barangay Honeymoon Holy Ghost, Baguio City on August 15, 2023.

According to the brother-in-law of the victim, who was reading at the same address and was at the entrance of their residence, he heard two (2) consecutive gunshots emanating inside their bathroom, prompting him to check, but it was locked. He kicked the door and saw the victim seated on the floor with blood oozing from his head and a short firearm on the floor covered by the victim’s foot.

A relative of the victim also revealed that upon hearing the two (2) consecutive gunshots, she peered into the bathroom when the brother-in-law opened the door and saw the victim seated on the floor.

The victim was immediately brought to Notre Dame De Chartres Hospital and was declared dead by his attending physician.

Based on the initial police probe, the policeman died due to a severe traumatic brain injury secondary to an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the point of entry at the parietal left and the point of exit at temporary right.

Investigators ruled out foul play on the death of the BCPO personnel now currently looking at accident or self-inflicted. ### (PIO-BCPO)
