LAOAG CITY, Nov 23 (PIA) – The city government of Batac, through its agriculture office, continues to roll out its distribution of agricultural inputs to farmer beneficiaries in the city.
About 2,418 recipients will be given hybrid yellow corn with fertilizer, 380 recipients of mungbean with soil ameliorants, 110 recipients of peanut with soil ameliorants, 425 recipients of garlic, and 185 recipients of onion planting materials.
It is the local government’s bid to assist the farmers in providing farming needs at this time of COVID-19 pandemic wherein these planting inputs will serve as their starting investment for this planting season.
Aside from farming provision, beneficiaries will also be given some coupons which they can use in availing free diesel for their farm operations.
“Sa 46 years na serbisyo ko bilang isang magsasaka, napakalaking tulong nito sa akin upang magkaroon ako ng mga itatanim na sibuyas at bawang at may pang-abono pa,” said Franklin Ortal, one of the farmer-beneficiaries of the agri inputs in Batac City said.
Another beneficiary thanked the city government for their programs in easing up burdens of the farmers.
“Itong natanggap naming libre na abono at mga itatanim ay makabubuti ito sa aming pangkabuhayan. Hindi na namin kailangang bumili ng mga ito ngayong panahon ng taniman,” said Loreta Gamet, one of the recipients.
The distribution in clustered barangays was led by City Mayor Albert Chua and with some local officials. (JCR/MJTAB/JSM PIA Ilocos Norte)
