BARANGAY OFFICIALS CITED FOR THEIR EFFORTS DURING ENHANCED ‘HABAGAT’

Mayor Benjamin Magalong thanked and lauded the Summer Capital’s barangay officials for their full cooperation and selfless efforts during the recent deluge of heavy rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by typhoon ‘Carina’.

At the monthly Punong barangay meeting, on August 2, at City Hall chaired by councilor Rocky Aliping, Liga ng mga barangay chairman, the Mayor said barangay officials went out of their way to assist their constituents even during the height of the downpour.

The Mayor said he and other concerned officers were very impressed and overwhelmed that in all the barangays they inspected, their officials were mobilized to secure the safety and security of residents in their areas.

“Nakakatuwang tignan that on their own, talagang lumalabas at nagpapatrol sila, gumagalaw sila at inaayos nila ang kaya nilang ayusin. Maski delikado iyong mga pinupuntahan nilang lugar ay nanduon pa rin sila. Kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng mga tulong ninyo. We are really very happy,” he stressed.

The Mayor has directed that certificates of recognition be awarded to the barangay officials commending them for their proactive efforts during the enhanced ‘Habagat’.

He also thanked Punong barangays for enforcing the law and preventing their constituents from leaving garbage on the streets which could clog drainages and other waterways and cause flooding incidents.

The Mayor noted, however, that there were still residents in some barangays who were remiss or refused to practice the proper disposal of their trash even during heavy rains.-Gaby B. Keith
