BARANGAY GIFT SHARING
The Baguio Filipino-Chinese Community in partnership with the city government of Baguio joined hand to celebrate the Spring Festival Chinese Lunar New Year 2024.
The EXECOM spearheaded by Baguio Filipino – Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Inc. President Mr. Peter L. Ng together with Vice-person Mr. Thomas Kho, Advisers- Mr. Jose Ong Tajan, Association of Philippine China Understanding – Baguio Chapter President George Ong, Co-Chair of Committee on Barangay Gift-Sharing Ms. Lilian Baniwas, Mr. Marlon and Marlyn Galera, Ms. Erlinda Loma-ang, Mr. Chino Chow, Mr. Roland Wong, Mr. Eugene Valbuena, Friends from BB-PICAG, and BCPO personnel attending and conducting the annual barangay gift sharing activity at the Barangay Ambiong & San Antonio Village with the total of 100 recipients held at Doña Aurora Elementary School on February 9, 2024.
Office of the Social Welfare and Development Office (OSWADO) headed by Liza Bulayungan said,”Una nagpapasalamat tayo sa Association ng Baguio Filipino-Chinese Community sa pangunguna ni President Peter Ng at ng kanyang mga kasamahan sa komite tunay na napakabuti nila dahil sila pa ang dumadalaw sa inyo para dito sa pagsagawa ng barangay gift-sharing, napili namin itong barangay Ambiong at San Antonio Village dahil nalaman namin na marami dito ang may indigent family kaya nagbigay kami ng mga 100 stub sa mga mabibigyan ng gift pack,”
Ayon naman kay Chairperson Peter Ng,”Tuwing sasapit ang ganitong pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year ay naging tradisyon na namin itong bahagi sa programa na gift-sharing sa barangay at nakiki coordinate kami sa Office of Social Welfare and Development Office dahil sila ang nakakaalam kung anong barangay ang may indigent family kaya kaming mga kasamahan ko sa asosasyon ay nagtulong-tulong rin mag-ambag para may maipamahagi kami sa kanila,”
Pinasaya naman ni Mr. Jeff Ng ang mga beneficiaries sa pamamagitan ng trivia o pagsagot sa mga katanungan kaugnay sa kultura ng chinese at ang pa premyo ay mga Tikoy at Calendar.
Chinese New Year is a big part of Chinese culture as it’s part of getting rid of bad luck and bringing in good fortune and good wishes for yourself and those around you.
