BAGUIO’s FINEST Search Mission for Victims of Bakakeng Landslide
Baguio City Police Office (BCPO)-Marcos Highway Police Station (PS 10) along with CDRRMO, Task Force Group Baguio, Bakakeng Central Barangay personnel, and residents have gone on a search and rescue mission in Bakakeng Central, Baguio City, for victims of a landslide that occurred due to Super Typhoon “Egay” on July 26, 2023.
Accordingly, the landslide happened around 10:30 a.m. today, July 26, 2023, trapping three people inside. The search and rescue team was able to retrieve two individuals identified as a 59-year-old male construction worker and his 48-year-old housewife while their 16-year-old son’s body was extracted from the slide around 12:25 PM.
The 16-year-old male student who was trapped inside his room was declared Dead on Arrival (DOA) by the attending physician who was present at the said incident.
He was brought to La Funeraria Paz, Naguilian while his parents were brought to Baguio General Hospital for immediate medical assistance.
The search and Rescue operation was called off two hours after the incident with no other fatalities recorded. (BCPO – PIO File Photos)
