Baguio Senior Citizen commended anew

City officials congratulated and commended Ms. Editha L. Ibarra for being an awardee of the Sampung Ulirang Nakatatanda Awards 2022.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that Ms. Ibarraโ€™s achievement has brought pride and glory to the elderly community and to the city.

The Sampung Ulirang Nakatatanda (SUN) Awards is an annual search and awarding of ten most inspiring and outstanding older persons in the country. The SUN Awards started in 1991 and has been part of the annual Elderly Filipino Week celebration.

Further, the said awards aims to recognize the important contributions of older women and men to their respective communities and the entire society.

The SUN Awards is also a way of searching for the unsung heroes and honoring the services and efforts they have shared.

To date, there are already some 300 unsung older person heroes nationwide who had been recognized and awarded in the Sampung Ulirang Nakatatanda Awards.

Ms. Ibarra, a resident of Middle Quezon Hill barangay and former punong barangay of the same, is one of the awardees of this yearโ€™s SUN.

During her leadership, having served more than 44 years in the community, Middle Quezon Hill barangay had been a recipient of numerous awards and recognition. – Dexter A. See
