Baguio, Murcia sisterhood ties renewed

City officials authorized the local chief executive to enter into and sign the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the municipality of Murcia, Province of Negros Occidental, renewing the sisterhood and friendship agreement.

Under Resolution No. 468, series of 2022, local legislators made reference to a letter dated September 7, 2022 of Murcia Mayor Victor Gerardo M. Rojas expressing the intention of the townโ€™s officialdom to renew the sisterhood and friendship agreement with the city on their upcoming visit to the countryโ€™s Summer Capital.

Further, the Murcia signified their intention to learn what Baguio City has accomplished in terms of boosting the local economy through agricultural trade and eco-tourism for highly elevated cold climate areas as their highly elevated areas remain untapped and under developed in the past.

However, the Murcia officials recognized the fact that in these days, there is a group in coffee growing, flower growing, resorts and vacation houses in the area, thus, there is now the need to learn the appropriate knowledge and expertise from the city.

Earlier, the city council accepted, through Resolution No. 008, series of 2006, the offer of the Municipality of Murcia, Province of Negros Occidental to establish sisterhood relationship with Baguio City.

Under Resolution No. 2022-093 of the Murcia municipal council, their municipal council authorized Mayor Rojas, on behalf of the municipality, to enter into and sign the memorandum of agreement with the Baguio City government for the renewal of sisterhood and friendship with the city. – Dexter A.
