BAGUIO MASTER AND SENIORS ATHLETIC TEAM LAUDED

 City officials recently commended and congratulated the Baguio Master and Seniors athletics team ‘Tandang Pinoy’ for their ultimate display of speed, strength and endurance and for garnering some twenty five golds, six silvers and four bronze medals in the Masters and Senior categories in the recently concluded Philippine Masters International Athletics Championships held at the PhilSports track oval in Pasig City last November 10, 2024.

In a resolution, the ultimate display of speed, strength and endurance of Team Baguio is undeniably some of the reasons why living in Baguio City promotes a healthier lifestyle and longer life for the people.

Further, the council added that it validates that the city is one of the centers of sports and producer of quality athletes from all ages thereby giving pride and honor to the city.

Earlier, Team Baguio or ‘Tandang Pinoy’ displayed their extraordinary skills and resilience across various track and field events during the Philippine masters International Athletics Championships held at the PhilSports track oval in Pasig city last November 10, 2024.

The gold medalist in the said competition were Christabel A. martes in the 5,000-meter and 1,500-meter runs;  Rosario Velasco-Alberto in the 5,000-meter, 1,500-meter and 200-meter runs, Brenda Lavandia in the javelin throw, Demetrio Advincula in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, 4×400-meter relay and 1,100-meter relay, Severino Alacar in the 3,000-meter race walk and 4×100-meter relay, Brigilio Balaba in the 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1,500-meter run, 200-meter run, 400-meter run and 4×400-meter relay, Virgilio Escano in the 4×100-meter relay, 4×400-meter relay, and Jeoffrey Perez in the 10,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run.

The silver medalists were Demetrio Advincula in the 800-meter run and 100-meter hurdles, Brigilio Balaba in the 10,999-meter run and 5,000-meter run, Felix Bernabe in the 1,500-meter run and Virgilio Escano in the 10,000-meter run.

The bronze medalists were Severino Alacar in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, Felix Bernabe in the 5,000-meter run and 10-,000-meter run and Virgilio Ecano in the 5,000-meter run.
