Baguio judo athletes commended anew

City officials commended the Baguio-based judo athletes who emerged victorious during the 2022 All Women’s Martial Arts Festival held on November 14, 2022 at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.

In a resolution, city legislators stated it is with great pride and joy that the city’s people and officialdom confer the commendation to the Baguio-based judo athletes who proudly represented the city during the 2022 All Women’s Martial Arts Festival.

During the competition, the delegates from the city won 2 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze medal giving them a good standing in the said competition.

Among the judo athletes who emerged victorious during the competition include Analyn Diño of the Baguio Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)–Kaitagi judo team/Baguio Multicultural Institute – gold medalist in the under 52-kilogram category; Meagan Alyssa Motilla of the Baguio Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)–Kaitagi judo team/Educare College – gold medalist in the under 63-kilogram category; Mikeighla Louise Diño de Vera of the Baguio Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)–Kaitagi judo team/Mount Carmel Montessori – silver medalist in the under 44-kilogram category; Natalie Gaspar of the Baguio Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)–Kaitagi judo team/University of Baguio (UB) junior high school – silver medalist in the under 57-kilogram category, and Angielee Tindaan of the Baguio Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)–Kaitagi judo team/Lindawan National High School – bronze medalist in the under 52-kilogram category.

The council pointed out that the outstanding performances of the city’s women’s judo athletes with the supervision of their coaches and support from their families have portrayed unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through years of training and dedication that serve as inspiration for the whole country and are worthy of emulation to the people of the nation and the city, especially to the youth. – Dexter A.
