Baguio eyes aid to ‘Odette’ affected areas
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
With this in mind, Vice Mayor and currently Acting City Mayor Faustino Olowan Jr. said the local government is planning to donate an amount to areas heavily affected by Typhoon “Odette” that left a swathe of death and destruction in several provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao.
He made the announcement during an impromptu interview with local journalists just after the flag-raising rites, December 20, at the City Hall grounds.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) was asked to give an update on the situation so this could be tackled in a special session of the City Council, he said.
The Acting Chief Executive would also like to know if there are any of Baguio’s sister cities, provinces or municipalities that are directly affected by the typhoon.
“Probably the city government could dole out some amount for these affected localities,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte recently declared a state of calamity in six regions due to the wrath of typhoon “Odette”.
